Planet under Pressure Registration deadline extension

The Planet Under Pressure management team is extending the oral presenters registration deadline to Friday 9 December and poster author registration deadline to 20 January 2012. This is in response to feedback from some delegates who require more time to identify funding opportunities.

Registration Fees

£275 + UK VAT @ 20% = £330.00 Earlybird Delegates
(delegates registering up to and including 20 January 2012)

£375 + UK VAT @ 20% = £450.00 Standard Delegates
(delegates registering after 20 January 2012)

£250 + UK VAT @ 20% = £300.00 Students

All above fees are subject to a £35 per person carbon offset contribution. This additional fee will be included on registration.

Please note that the registration deadline for oral presenters is 9 December 2011 and for poster presenters is 20 January 2012. Any authors not registered by this date will have their presentation withdrawn from the conference programme.

Registration includes:

  • Access to oral presentations, poster presentations and exhibition areas.
  • Full conference materials including programme booklet and abstract CD.
  • Lunch & refreshments as scheduled in the conference programme.
  • Welcome drinks reception on Sunday 25 March.

Accompanying Persons

The conference is not offering an accompanying persons registration rate. Any persons wishing to attend any part of the conference must register as a delegate. Please note that guests are not invited to refreshment breaks, lunches or receptions. If however you wish a guest to accompany you to the conference dinner, you may purchase additional tickets via the registration website. Please note this provides access to the dinner on Wednesday night only.

Children

Please note that for insurance reasons, children under the age of 18 are not permitted to attend the conference, or be present on the conference premises.

Optional Tour of the Thames Barrier

Tours of the Thames Barrier are available for delegates on Friday 30 March 2012. There is a morning (10am) and an afternoon tour (2pm). The visits last approximately 2-3 hours: the first hour comprises a DVD and Q&A session and then visitors will be taken out onto the Barrier for an hour's guided tour.

To book onto one of the the tours, please add the tour to your conference registration booking. Please book now to avoid disappointment, as spaces are very limited - 42 people per tour.

Delegates that book onto the tour should make their own way to the Barrier 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour and should meet in the Visitors Centre - please see the map for guidance.

VAT on Conference Registrations

Under VAT Act 1994, Schedule 4A supplies of conferences, fairs, exhibitions and similar are subject to VAT based on where they take place. As the Planet Under Pressure Conference is taking place in London, UK VAT at 20% will be chargeable on all delegate registrations to the conference.

If you represent a business or government dept, then we can provide you with a VAT invoice on request, and this can be used by your organisation to reclaim VAT.

  • If you represent a UK VAT registered business or govt dept, then the VAT can be reclaimed on your VAT return.
  • If you represent an EU business (or govt dept), then the VAT may be reclaimable under the “8th Directive Procedure” which involves making a submission to HMRC in the UK and providing certain documentation within a fixed deadline.

  • If you represent a non-EU business, then the VAT may be reclaimed under the “13th Directive Procedure” which involves making a submission to HMRC in the UK and providing certain documentation within a fixed deadline (which differs from the above).

If you do not represent a business or eligible entity, then VAT may not be recoverable by you. If you believe that your organisation is entitled to special treatment, please let us know:

Cancellations

Substitutions may be made at any time but please advise our Customer Services department of a change of name. If you find it necessary to cancel the registration completely, please notify Customer Services immediately. Provided written notice is received by Friday 10 February 2012, a full refund will be given less a 10% administration charge. Provided written notice is received by Friday 24 February 2012, a 50% refund will be given. It is regretted for registrations cancelled after Friday 24 February 2012, or for no-shows at the conference, the full fee (100% cancellation charges) will be payable.
