Building Capacity, Breaking Dependency
Making sense of working together - Starfish Community Expo 2014. Sustainable Communities Worldwide is hosting the 2014 Starfish Community Expo to bring great ideas and great people together. It is an event structured around sharing what is working, refining what isn't working, and connecting with other people and organizations that share your passion for serving others.
Event details: The Expo will kickoff with a meet and greet in the evening of Thursday, September 10, followed by two full days September 11-12. The venue for the 2014 Expo is The Academy Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
What to expect: This a truly international event with input and participation from experienced field representatives, project leaders, and subject matter experts in the humanitarian arena. At the most recent Expo, participants from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and South America brought invaluable first-hand experience to the conference.
Why YOU should attend: One of the things that make SCW's models - the Business Development Initiative (BDI) and the International Disaster Response (IDR) model - so unique is how many different voices have spoken into them. These proven, principled-based models are now being used in over 50 nations! In addition, the new Facilitating Asset-Based Strategies for Transformation (FAST) initiative will be bringing together thought leaders from around the world to focus on this new model for empowering local leaders. By attending the Starfish Community Expo, you have a chance to learn from and contribute to these models. And the models serve as a framework for forging working relationships with incredible people who are committed to local empowerment and lasting change. The cultural expertise, best-practices, organizations and in-country networks represented at the Expo will make you more effective. A complete agenda, online registration, and hotel information will be available soon. Please contact us with any questions.
