Afghanistan is a country with a complicated structure of power from local level to government level. Illegal armed groups based on ethnic diversity, drug trafficking, informal political parties or war lords’ influence inside the government, and corruption in the systems of judicial, economy and political are forming the illicit power structure in Afghanistan. Through the history of Afghanistan it had been a structure of illicit power that ethnic groups in Afghanistan are forming illegal armed groups to gain the power in the country.
Drug trafficking had been an illicit trade in Afghanistan that the high officials of government are involved in this illegal trade. Informal political parties that are formulated in the structure of war lords those who had been involved in civil wars in Afghanistan. In Afghanistan when civil war’s ended, war lords disarmed and integrated into political parties’ structure to save their power. The members informal parties or war were appointed in the government of Afghanistan for the high official positions, which gave them the opportunity to keep their illicit power save by influencing in the government of Afghanistan.
Corruption in the systems of judicial, economy and political of Afghanistan also structures illicit power in Afghanistan that weakened the whole government system. Bribery in the courts, embezzlement in banks and violence in elections are the evidence of corruption in government systems in Afghanistan. The existed power structures in Afghanistan create an environment, in which peace resolutions will rarely prosper, and democracy and development seldom grow.
